"So Romantic" is the seventh album released by R&B singer Evelyn "Champagne" King on the RCA label in 1984. It was produced by Clif Magness, Glen Ballard, Carl Sturken, Evan Rogers, Hawk, Jimmy Douglass, and The System. The album peaked at #38 on the R&B albums chart. It produced the hit singles "Just for the Night", "I'm So Romantic", "Out of Control", "Give Me One Reason", and "Till Midnight".
Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection.
Although admittedly a posthumous release, I was very surprised at the rather dismissive tenor of many of the reviews of this album to date. Hopefully this record will be reappraised soon as being a release worthy of anyone's consideration as I feel it does enhance an already rich legacy left behind by this very fine and innovative band. (So what if Charisma wanted to ride the slipstream of the lucrative ELP juggernaut?)
I'm in Love is the fourth album released by R&B singer Evelyn King on the RCA label in 1981. It was produced by Morrie Brown, Willie Lester, Rodney Brown, Kashif, and Lawrence Jones. The album peaked at #6 on the R&B albums chart. It also reached #28 on the Billboard 200. It produced the hit singles "I'm In Love", "If You Want My Lovin'", "Don't Hide Our Love", and "Spirit of the Dancer". The album was certified gold by the RIAA. The album was digitally remastered and reissued on CD with bonus tracks in 2011 by Big Break Records.
Wilbert Longmire is a guitarist discovered by George Benson and introduced to Bob James to launch his Tappan Zee label through CBS. Like Benson, Wilbert Longmire was a master of the fusion jazz style who could also sing and was prolific in the jazz, funk and soul genres for the 3 albums he made with the label.
Champagne and With All My Love were the second and third albums respectively and this is the first time either have been made available on CD. With All My Love contains the jazz funk classic Hawkeye, also Champagne features an excellent version of the Earth Wind & Fire smash Love's Holiday (also featured on The Skip Scarborough Songbook) while a full cast of musicians on this album includes Idris Muhammad, Richard Tee, Harvey Mason, Eddie Daniels, Michael Brecker and Eric Gale.
Kriya, meaning "work" or "action" in Sanskrit, is an ensemble of top Finnish and Indian musicians. The varied musical background of its members is audible in its music, a combination of not only rock and jazz but also folk and classical Indian music. Most of the pieces were composed by guitarist Peter Lerche. The songs are in Sanskrit, Pali and Finnish.
