Decca's five-CD set Ultimate Beethoven is a respectable beginner's introduction to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven because it presents his greatest masterworks in complete performances by major artists. Where some other collections present only short, thematic excerpts or single movements taken from larger works, obliging the listener to put in additional effort to hear the whole compositions, this set leaves nothing incomplete. Central to Beethoven's output are his symphonies, and the Symphony No. 5 in C minor; the Symphony No. 6 in F major, "Pastoral"; and the Symphony No. 9 in D minor, "Choral" have long been regarded as essential works.
The production of a new Ring at the Bayreuth Festival is an event that takes place every six years. Bayreuth recordings of the complete cycle are rare; this is only the third official audio recording and the second filmed version. The Kupfer/Barenboim Ring was performed over a five-year period and recorded at the conclusion when the "Bayreuth Workshop" had raised "the quality of the performance to an almost unsurpassable level".
Five discs - five conductors - four orchestras - nine composers - 28 works: Decca's collection Ultimate Baroque is as one might imagine a mixed bag. The best of the set is I Musici's sweet and fresh 1996 recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, with Mariana Sirbu as the lighter-than-air and younger-than-springtime soloist and Neville Marriner and the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields' stately yet sprightly 1971 recording of Bach's four Suites for orchestra, and Raymond Leppard and the English Chamber Orchestra's robust and rambunctious 1970 and 1972 recordings of Handel's Water Music suites and Music for the Royal Fireworks.
Concerto Teatro Uomo is a live album by Italian Jazz fusion band Area released in 1996 and recorded in in Milan, while the band was supporting their fifth album Maledetti (Maudits). The album was criticized for its sound quality (it was not professionally recorded, unlike their 1975 live album Are(A)zione) and for some packaging errors, but was also praised for its musical content (including extended improvisations) and for Demetrio Stratos' useful information about the tracks during banter between songs. This album was repackaged with another posthumous live album Parigi-Lisbona in the boxset Live Concerts Box.
Cathedral keyboards and fuzzedout guitars levitate above pounding, tribal poly rhythms while sparsely placed vocals echo in the dense sonic landscapes. The band brings together trippy and reverb soaked guitar melodies, along with otherworldly vocals, for an experience that can only be described as riding a horse through the harsh and arid plains of the American Old West while tripping on something a bit stronger than your standard LSD. Impressively, the album never falters, not for one second. One of the reasons for this is how every track blends together making the experience a truly singular one; a 43-minute pilgrimage through a dusty, sun-baked expansion of one’s own consciousness.

One of the great cycles. Of the hundred or so available recorded cycles (out of about one hundred and fifteen or so), this rates as one of the best. In better sound than either the DG stereo cycle and the live King International cycle, Kempff's style is more poetic and less intense and fiery than others. Whatever Kempff may give away in terms of speed, power, and precision, he makes up for in other ways
50 Best is a series of 3-CD sets which feature genres of music ranging from symphonies, concertos and solo instrumental works to chamber music, songs and operas.
