Released in 1985, Bryan Ferry’s sixth solo album is a timeless masterpiece, the product of an unparalleled master craftsman working at the height of his considerable powers. After a run of fourteen albums (with Roxy Music and solo) in the decade-long span between 1972 and 1982, the wait for new material must have been intolerable for many Ferrymaniacs; rarely in pop music has patient dedication been so handsomely rewarded. An absolute feast for the ears, Boys and Girls is one of the most seductive pop records of its decade, and every decade since, the sumptuous production inviting you on a sleek sonic trip through the beating heart of the city. It’s the kind of album that adjectives, and HiFis were made for.

Album Notes
Having at last laid Roxy to bed with its final, intoxicatingly elegant albums, Ferry continued its end-days spirit with his own return to solo work. Dedicated to Ferry's father, Boys and Girls is deservedly most famous for its smash single "Slave to Love." With a gentle samba-derived rhythm leading into the steadier rock pace of the song, it's '80s Ferry at his finest, easy listening without being hopelessly soporific. As a whole, Boys and Girls fully established the clean, cool vision of Ferry on his own to the general public. Instead of ragged rock explosions, emotional extremes, and all that made his '70s work so compelling in and out of Roxy, Ferry here is the suave, debonair if secretly moody and melancholic lover, with music to match. Co-producer Rhett Davies, continuing his role from the latter Roxy albums, picks up where Avalon left off right from the slinky opening grooves of "Sensation." The range of people on the album is an intriguing mix, from latterday Roxy members like Andy Newmark and Alan Spenner to avid Roxy disciples like Chic's Nile Rodgers. Everyone is subordinated to Ferry's overall vision, and as a result there's not as much full variety on Boys and Girls as might be thought or hoped. The album's biggest flaw is indeed that it's almost too smooth, with not even the hint of threat or edge that Ferry once readily made his own. As something that's a high cut above the usual mid-'80s yuppie smarm music, though, Boys and Girls remains an enjoyable keeper that has aged well.---allmusic.com

Desire Develops an Edge was originally released as a two-LP set in 1983. It consists primarily of compositions by Hanrahan, who does not play any of the instruments but avails himself of a kaleidoscopic group of studio musicans that includes Americans (Teo Macero, Arto Lindsay, Steve Swallow), Cubans (Puntilla Orlando Rios, Milton Cardona), and Haitians (Elysee Pyronneau, Jean Claude Jean), as well as one very prominent Briton – former Cream singer and bassist Jack Bruce.

n Your Mind is the fourth solo studio album by Bryan Ferry, the former lead vocalist for Roxy Music. It was his first solo album consisting entirely of original songs: the first two had been cover albums, the second concluding with an original song, the third a collection of B-side and EP material consisting of cover versions. Reviewing for AllMusic, critic Ned Raggett wrote of the album "On balance, though, In Your Mind remains the secret highlight of Ferry's musical career, an energetic album that would have received far more attention as a full Roxy release." And the critic Robert Christgau wrote of the album "Ferry has custom-designed a new line of songs for his solo concept, rather than borrowing from early Roxy or his humble forebears, and especially on side one the stuff is appealingly down-to-earth."

Let's Stick Together is a 1976 album by Bryan Ferry. His third solo release, it was his first following the disbandment of Roxy Music earlier in the year. Unlike Ferry’s two previous solo recordings, Let’s Stick Together was not a dedicated album project, instead being made up of material released as singles, B-sides and an EP. With a highly popular title track, it had a generally favourable critical reception, but only just made the UK Top 20.
