Originally recorded in 1982 by the BBC for broadcast on Radio 1. Also included is a bonus track from 1981.

All but one of the 15 songs were recorded in concert for the BBC on December 8, 1982 (the one remaining track, a cover of Bob Dylan's "Maggie's Farm," was recorded on March 23, 1981 for a separate BBC broadcast). The Blues Band were, in limited respects, a big deal in Britain in this era: a blues-rock group with integrity and pedigree that had a reputation as an excellent live act. On this record, it must be said, they come across more like an above-average blues-rock bar band, one that happens to feature a singer (Paul Jones) who's much, much better than the typical bloke you'll see fronting a bunch of geezers doing Chess covers at the local pub…

Both audio and video have been remastered for a listening pleasure beyond comparison.

Peter Hammill is one of the formative characters of the progressive rock scene to date. In the beginning of the 1970's he recorded four cumbersome mysterious albums with his band Van der Graaf Generator which never could reach the commercial heights of cognate bands like Genesis or Yes due to their musical intransigence. After several visionary but difficult to access albums, Hammill reformed the quartet for another four albums which introduced a more earthy but not less complex sound. After the band's second end in 1978, on solo albums like "The Future Now", "ph7" or "A Black Box" Hammill experimented extensively in the studio and acquired the latest techniques like i.e. early forms of sampling; one of the most breath-taking results being the 20 minute long soundscape 'Flight'…

Because Champion Jack Dupree lived and toured in Germany for an extended period of time, many older blues fans will remember his live shows, which were a mixture of barrelhouse blues and boogie, stories and mostly saucy jokes (Shakesbeer says …). On the other side, there also were his very emotional, often autobiographical slow blues. The concert DVD presents all facets of this great barrelhouse piano player and singer; it is fun to watch, offers musical pleasures and makes you realize that there are hardly any true characters left in the blues who would ask for another beer even in a TV studio, before the show goes on.

His intoxicating, rough and dynamic Rockpalast performance on November 4, 1976 marked the big European breakthrough for young Canadian multi-instrumentalist Pat Travers who had just landed a major deal with Polydor in London. At that time, his band consisted of Peter “Mars” Cowling on bass and Nicko McBrain who is meanwhile drumming for Iron Maiden. Several albums later, in the 80’s, when hard rock and blues orientated rock lost its impact due to punk and new wave, Travers moved back to the US where the scene was still hooked on the genre. Still, Travers has the best reputation as a great live act with all his full speed energy and he connected well with his fans.

That was not what George Thorogood & The Destroyers expected from their Rockpalast show on 26th November 1980 at Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. Starting with the third song of the concert, the Willie Dixon tune I'm Wanted, the audience - having been rather reserved at first - was asked by the American singer and guitarist to participate. The space in front of the stage was empty, so Thorogood wanted to motivate the crowd to get up and dance. Some fans followed his invitation, so that at the end of the regular show there was quite a party. With the encore then the whole thing went a little astray, when our sax player Hank Carter announced in broken German that we would like to see more dancers.

2009 CD/DVD live release from the veteran Synth Pop band fronted by Terri Nunn includes a bonus DVD. Berlin's Electro-Pop sound features the enduring and assertive voice of Nunn, which is why All The Way In is the most preferable place to hear this Los Angeles-based group's music. Berlin made its first national impression with the provocative single 'Sex (I'm A…)' from the gold-selling debut EP Pleasure Victim in 1982. The Synth-soaked punch of 'No More Words' from 1984's Love Life album and the number one ballad 'Take My Breath Away' from the film Top Gun are the album's high points. Berlin's '80s poignancy provided some rather palatable music, even if the charts didn't say so. Songs like 'Dancing In Berlin' and 'Scream' could compete with anything Depeche Mode or Duran spouted at the time, and the range of Nunn's vocals elevated most of Berlin's efforts above the norm of the run-of-the-mill synthesizer glitz. All The Way In captures Berlin at their best in front of a hometown Los Angeles crowd.
