A dark, cynical thriller set in the urban UK. When Charlie moves into his new flat, he meets a colorful array of new characters, including a dominatrix and a skinhead yabo, witnesses a murder, and finds himself on the run from assassins and fixers sent by the highest levels of government. Shades of Howard Chaykin’s Black Kiss and the hard-boiled style of 100 Bullets, all with a very British (as in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels British) accent.

Bev is passion. Powerful singer/songwriter, sultry jazz singer, award winning language teacher, world traveller, and lifelong yogi dedicated to the power of giving, her third CD Woman in Black, along with her charity work, earned her a YWCA Woman of Distinction in the Arts Award. Although a distinct Joni Mitchell influence is apparent, Tracy Chapman also resonates in her vocal dynamics, and she can deliver a wicked Etta James cover, Bev has evolved her own distinct blend of acoustic jazz, soul, and blues. Her stories are real; her vocally compelling delivery is intense, innovative, and passionate; and her lyrics, like a good story, stay with you long after the music is over.

Shirley MacLaine plays Charity Hope Valentine who, despite her job at a seedy dime-a-dance joint, is an incurable optimist. Charity never stops looking for true love and never seems to look for it in the right places. We first see her in the company of Charlie (Dante DiPaolo), a slimeball who steals her purse and pushes her into the Central Park pond. Next she stumbles into a one-night stand with Vittorio Vidal (Ricardo Montalban), an egotistical movie star; this comes to nothing when Vittorio's contrite girlfriend Ursula (Barbara Bouchet) comes calling, forcing Charity to spend the night hiding in the closet. Desperate to escape the dance hall, Charity heads to an employment agency, where a bureaucratic clerk (Alan Hewitt) informs her that she has no qualifications. Unhappily, Charity heads for the elevator, where she becomes trapped with the very shy – and very claustrophobic – Oscar Lindquist (John McMartin). Once they've gotten out of the stalled elevator, Charity begins dating Oscar, never telling him of her checkered past or her sordid dance-hall job.
