Much like Evidence's Fate in a Pleasant Mood/When Sun Comes Out two-fer, We Travel the Spaceways/Bad and Beautiful also features one album from the Chicago period and one from the New York period. The difference is that this New York session (Bad and Beautiful) is probably the first recording made in New York, and the overall sound is more closely tied to the Chicago sound than the later New York material, where rhythm and percussion dominated any melodic elements.

The history of Asteroid is a psychedelic space saga, timeless and endless, with no upside or downside, but with a beautiful ending. The band, formed during the winter of 2003, have undertaken a long musical journey and developed a sound well fit to the trio constellation. After being formed as a regular stoner band, it didn't take long before new grounds were conquered. Since then, influences have been collected from blues and British 70's classic rock, but also from Swedish traditional folk music. "Asteroid II" (2010). It's got the murky darkness of the more menacing Zeppelin songs, the spaciness of Floyd's cosmic tracks, and the bluesiness of Howlin' Wolf - not to mention the incredible harmonies that tie everything together and keep you coming back for more.

Black Asteroid is the solo guise of Bryan Black, best known as one-half of industrial techno duo MOTOR. While MOTOR's work is vocal-based and more overtly influenced by the aggressive EBM sound of Nitzer Ebb and D.A.F., Black Asteroid focuses on the dancefloor, with distorted, driving techno beats and few, if any, vocals. Originally from Minneapolis, Black worked at Paisley Park Studios as a sound designer for Prince and was a member of '90s industrial groups H3llb3nt and Haloblack. He started MOTOR with former bandmate Olivier Grasset, and the duo released a string of successful albums on NovaMute, Shitkatapult, and Dim Mak, in addition to touring with Depeche Mode in 2009.

The asteroid that exploded in the skies over Siberia injuring more than 1,000 and damaging buildings in six cities was a shocking reminder that Earth is a target in a cosmic shooting range. From the width of a football field to the size of a small city, these space rocks have the potential to be killers. In a collision with Earth, they could set off deadly blast waves, raging fires, and colossal tidal waves. But some audacious entrepreneurs look up at asteroids and see payday, not doomsday. Some asteroids are loaded with ele¬ments that could be worth billions of dollars: iron, nickel, and even platinum.
