Well, nail our current program - the new album Booze & Glory, in the majority of Polish skinheads from London that the move became hated or loved by many, but known to everyone! So I will not grovel special, just swing! For me - so catchy album from the first chords, as always great melodies and sing-and coolest-longs!

Fan Made Release - Not For Sale! Mono LP transfered & mastered by Prof Stoned. Mindblowing music from Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band – a record that's got plenty of garagey grit at the core, but which also has a heady freak rock vibe overall! The 1967 album really captures this perfect moment – one when so many artists like Don Van Vliet had their feet in older rockish modes, but were really tripping out with new ideas – able to get nice and freaky in the course of a short tune, yet still never lose a groove that really helped send the music home! In other words, there's nothing too hippieish about the record, and nothing that's ever too self-indulgent – yet the blend of organ, guitar, and drums is completely mindblowing – and as revolutionary today as it was back then.

Never Expect Power Always (aka N.E.P.A.) is largely a biting criticism and mocking of the Nigerian Electrical Power Authority, rife with corruption and poor service. It starts out with the title track, with a definite Afro-beat punch and a tighter arrangement than would normally be expected from Fela. Electro-claps stand as part of the percussion line, adding to a more modern look at what Afro-beat was becoming.

Although Dolly wrote eight of the ten songs and one of the other two tracks is an original song, there isn't as much original material as one might think, because Dolly re-recorded some of her old songs for this album. The song that everybody should recognize is Release me, a song that dates back originally to the early fifties. Dolly first recorded the song in the early sixties on a small independent label, while she was sill a teenager. The version here is far superior to her earlier effort. It also features a distinctive arrangement, just enough to freshen it up without being dramatically different from the standard arrangement of the song. It has been released on CD on a Dolly covers album in America and on the Tour collection boxed set in Britain.

For more than 20 years, Quadro Nuevo has been the butterfly collector of world music in a sense. As a groundbreaking and successful German world music ensemble, woodwind player Mulo Francel, bassist and percussionist Dietmar Lowka, accordionist Andreas Hinterseher and harpist Evelyn Huber track down authentic sounds and magnetic melodies all over the world, catch them and hang them into their own musical frame of reference – always respectfully inspired by foreign cultures, their people and myths.

Melodic Power, Folk Metal | Country: Italy | Label: AFM Records; FONO Ltd. (FO1320CD)

Being a huge power metal fan, and someone who likes it equally when in its purest form and when mixed with other genres, one of my absolute favorite genre combinations is power/folk metal, a style which has sadly not been done a lot in recent years, but the best band in the style continues to go strong. Of course, I’m talking about Italian band Elvenking, who stormed onto the scene with their incredible debut Heathenreel in 2001, and they haven’t let up ever since. The band has managed to come up with a very diverse sound while sticking with their two main genres, and they’ve certainly surprised folks throughout their career, sometimes going for a more aggressive, almost metalcore sound, sometimes completely toning down the power metal in favor of pure folk, and sometimes striking a near perfect balance between the two.
