"Syndenes Magi" is the 6th release from Norwegian progressive rock band Arabs in Aspic. Focusing on an old-school sound, the use of Hammond organs, Mellotron, Rhodes, Space Echo, vintage guitars and tube amps shines through and colors the entire album. The songs on"Syndenes Magi" are darker and heavier than the previous release, the lyrics are all in Norwegian and reflect the unstability of today’s world. With extensive vocal harmonies and dynamic compositions, this album will appeal to both old and young listeners, and no special musical prerequisite is required. The mix of different musical backgrounds creates a special symbiosis in this ensemble, which makes Arabs in Aspic stand out from many other, more classic bands.

Arabs In Aspic emerged in 1997 from Norway led by guitarist and vocalist Jostein Smeby and rythm guitarist & Theremin player, Tommy Ingebrigtsen. Since they met through their common love for 1970s heavy rock music, especially Black Sabbath, they've been playing together with different personnel, each playing different kinds of heavy music until Arabs In Aspic surged. They said goodbye to playing covers and the band was ready with Hammond organ player "Mysterious" Magnar, drummer Eskil Nyhus and his brother, bass player Terje Nyhus. Their wide range of influences make a very rewarding listen, including stoner-rock music, 60s psychedelic rock, and the 70s heavy weights, with prime influences being Black Sabbath and Wetton-era King Crimson…

Where does the New Deal fit in the big picture of American history? What does it mean for us today? What happened to the economic equality it once engendered? In The Great Exception, Jefferson Cowie provides new answers to these important questions. In the period between the Great Depression and the 1970s, he argues, the United States government achieved a unique level of equality, using its considerable resources on behalf of working Americans in ways that it had not before and has not since.

The Politics and Business of Self-Interest from Tocqueville to Trump By Richard Ned Lebow
English | PDF,EPUB | 2017 (2018 Edition) | 129 Pages | ISBN : 3319685686 | 4.48 MB

Self-interest is an important human motive and this book explores its evolution in the United States and its consequences for politics, business, and personal relationships. In the postwar era American understandings of self-interest have moved away from Alexis de Tocqueville’s concept of “self-interest well-understood” – in which people recognize that their interests are served by the success of the community of which they are part – towards “individualism” – by which he meant narrow framing that often leads people to pursue their interests at the expense of the community.
