Higher Education, Globalization and Eduscapes: Towards a Critical Anthropology of a Global Knowledge Society

Higher Education, Globalization and Eduscapes: Towards a Critical Anthropology of a Global Knowledge Society By Per-Anders Forstorp
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 326 Pages | ISBN : 1137440465 | 3.44 MB

This book examines transnational scapes and flows of higher education: arguing that the educational and political vision of a national, regional and global knowledge society needs to be perspectivized beyond its ethnocentric conditions and meanings. Using eduscapes as its most important concept, this book explores the educational landscapes of individual as well as institutional actors; particularly the agential aspects of how global eduscapes are imagined, experienced, negotiated and constructed.

This is Diamond's equivalent of, say, one of Barbra Streisand's Broadway albums. Come to think of it, it's Broadway that Diamond is returning to as well; specifically, the corner of 49th Street, where he and many others turned out songs for music publishers. Some of these songs were written there; most were only in the spirit of that modern Tin Pan Alley. Handling the work of his then-rivals, such as "Spanish Harlem," "A Groovy Kind of Love," and "River Deep – Mountain High," Diamond adopts his usual hammy style (he always sounds like he thinks he's a much better singer than he is).

Everyone’s favorite guitarist and American Song aficionado Bill Frisell joins forces with producer/arranger Kramer for a brilliant and soulful exploration of the classic songwriting teams that were born and flourished in the legendary Brill Building. Picking up where 2012’s “The Brill Building, Book One” left off, this collection includes imaginative and creative arrangements of songs by Paul Simon, Burt Bacharach, Neil Diamond, Doc Pomus, Al Kooper, Carole King and more! Kramer’s idiosyncratic production values high- light Frisell’s distinctive guitar work, making this second installment a rare and vital gem in the Great American Songbook. Essential!
