Della Reese was born Deloreese Patricia Early on July 6, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan and began singing in her local church from an early age. In late 1953 Della signed on with The Erskine Hawkins Orchestra and moved to New York and soon had a recording contract with Jubilee Records. Duke Ellington really needs no introduction, being considered by many as the greatest American composer of the 20th Century. His orchestra, over its 50 plus years of performing and recording, launched the careers of many of jazz's greatest stars. The line up for this 1962 performance still featured such respected alumni as Ray Nance, Johnny Hodges and Paul Gonsalves. This unique live concert broadcast featuring Della Reese and The Duke Ellington Orchestra was recorded on February 13, 1962 in New York City as part of a radio series specifically designed to promote a National Guard recruiting effort.

This seventh and final installment of the Anthology of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra covers the years 2000 to 2010, a rich period in the orchestra's history largely characterized by the changing perspectives of a new century. Indeed, it was in 2004 that Riccardo Chailly relinquished his position as chief conductor, to be replaced by the Latvian maestro Mariss Jansons, who shifted the orchestra's focus more towards Tchaikovsky, Richard Strauss and Shostakovich. A generation of orchestral players retired and were succeeded by a group of outstanding young musicians, most of them hailing from outside the Netherlands, resulting in a growing internationalization of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Also in this period, the launch of the orchestra's own in-house record label, RCO Live, breathed new life into its rich recording tradition.

The Anthology of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is a recorded history of six decades of performances by the Concertgebouw Orchestra, taken from broadcasts contained in the archives of Dutch Radio and Radio Netherlands World Service. RCO Live has chosen not only legendary performances under chief conductors of the RCO but also concerts led by countless guest conductors of both greater and lesser renown. The sixth volume of the anthology features broadcasts from the 1990s, and presents a fascinating and colorful portrait of the orchestra s artistic development under various conductors during that period.

Robben Ford’s double CD and DVD ‘Live at Rockpalast in Leverkusen’ offers a contrasting snap shot of the jazz and blues guitarist in trio and quartet mode at the same venue, but separated by 9 years. The former Yellow Jackets/Jimmy Witherspoon/Miles Davis/Joni Mitchell and George Harrison guitarist is a ‘player’s player’, big on technique and feel, if not excitement. He’s a guitarist who can make even the most mundane tune sound interesting. And that’s exactly what he has to do sometimes in two concerts that at their best find him in exhilarating form and at worst finds him rescuing forgettable songs with unforgettable solos.

Merle Haggard's October 1985 show had him picking a decent mix of signature hits with other equally well-crafted material. And while he's basically mute between songs, it's the music that Haggard shone on time after time. Throughout it all, Haggard seems to be right at home delivering what could be called a country kind of soul, particularly on the tender, heartbreaking and honest "What Am I Gonna Do (With the Rest of My Life)". Starting slow and then picking things up just a hair in terms of the tempo, Haggard's electric guitar polishes off some nice licks, not playing up a storm but saying a lot with a little.

The Domkantorei St. Pölten, under the direction of Otto Kargl, is one of the most profound amateur choirs in Austria. The group was founded in 1992 by Kappelmeister Otto Kargle. It is an exquisite special ensemble with only about 20 members and the group is mainly concerned with music written prior to the year 1800 as well as contemporary choral literature. In addition to the liturgical service at the cathedral church in St. Polten, the ensemble regularly performs at the Carinthian Summer, the Brucknerhaus Linz, the Musica Sacra Festival, and the Festspielhaus St. Polten.

Iron Maiden has released over a dozen live records, so the first question for any practical fan is, "do I really need another one?" The Book of Souls Tour is perhaps the most significant in the band's history because it was the first singer Bruce Dickinson undertook after completing treatment for throat cancer. Not only did he sing, but, as usual, piloted the band's 747 to 39 countries on six continents in 2016 and 2017. The band performed in front of more than two million people. The set was produced by Tony Newton with assistance from bassist Steve Harris.

At last year’s annual Morsefest in Nashville, the dream of every Spock’s Beard fan in attendance came true. The band’s original lineup, and current members, performed the critically acclaimed double-disc concept album, SNOW, in its entirety. It was a moment in time fans never thought they’d ever get a chance to see. SNOW was the last album that Neal Morse recorded with the band before quitting in 2002.
