Costs of Air Pollution Control by Stefan Reis
Springer; 2005 edition | December 3, 2004 | English | ISBN: 354043934X | 211 pages | PDF | 4 MB

This book describes the development of cost effective abatement strategies aimed at controlling air pollutant emissions in Europe, particularly ground level ozone. The author gives a thorough evaluation of the results achieved for different environmental targets, and proposes a modelling scheme for emission targets required to achieve compliance with EU thresholds, and calculations reveal the need to review established ozone thresholds and emission limits.
Environmental Chemistry for a Sustainable World: Volume 2: Remediation of Air and Water Pollution (repost)

Environmental Chemistry for a Sustainable World: Volume 2: Remediation of Air and Water Pollution by Eric Lichtfouse, Jan Schwarzbauer and Didier Robert
English | 2011-11-18 | ISBN: 9400724381 | PDF | 390 pages | 14 MB

Environmental chemistry is a fast developing science aimed at deciphering fundamental mechanisms ruling the behaviour of pollutants in ecosystems. Applying this knowledge to current environmental issues leads to the remediation of environmental media, and to new, low energy, low emission, sustainable processes.

Monitoring, Control and Effects of Air Pollution (repost)

Andrzej G. Chmielewski, "Monitoring, Control and Effects of Air Pollution"
English | 2011 | ISBN: 9789533075266 | 254 pages | PDF | 35,2 MB

The book addresses the subjects related to the selected aspects of pollutants emission, monitoring and their effects. The most of recent publications concentrated on the review of the pollutants emissions from industry, especially power sector. In this one emissions from opencast mining and transport are addressed as well.

Knowledge Management on Air Quality: Case Studies
ADB | December 2010 | ISBN: 9789290922124 | 125 pages | PDF | 8 MB

This report presents a subregional case study on the application of the Clean Air Scorecard in Bangkok, Jakarata, and Manila; a national case study on stationary source emission standards in Sri Lanka; and a local case study on environmentally sustainable transport in Kathmandu, showing how information and communication technology can effectively contribute to building the capacity of policy makers and strengthening policy development processes.
Fighting Air Pollution in Southern California by Scrapping Old Vehicles

Lloyd Dixon " Fighting Air Pollution in Southern California by Scrapping Old Vehicles "
RAND Corporation | June 2001 | English | ISBN : 083302969X | 86 pages | PDF | 1MB

This report analyzes the effects of an innovative and controversial program–voluntary accelerated vehicle retirement–that is part of California's plan for complying with federal clean-air standards by the required date of 2010. Under this program, whose implementation is in doubt, during each year from 2001 to 2010 as many as 75,000 light-duty vehicles (LDVs) that are at least 15 years old would be purchased in the greater Los Angeles area and then scrapped. The authors1 analysis of program effects accounts for LDV-market responses including increases in used-LDV prices and consequent migration of vehicles into the region where LDVs are scrapped. The analysis predicts that program-induced increases in used-LDV prices will be between $22 and $271 in 2010; the best point estimate is $66 per LDV. While predicted emission reductions are largest for 2005, the program would almost certainly reduce emissions by between 8 and 28 tons per day in 2010, with actual reductions probably closer to the upper end. The authors analyze program cost effectiveness, conclude that a vehicle-scrapping program should be implemented, and suggest ways the program might be improved.
