Blues / Modern Electric Blues / Soul Blues / Early R&B / Memphis Blues

The great bluesman B.B. King, who died in 2015, was one of the few artists whose every note was of interest. This 25-track CD of mostly previously unissued recordings are drawn from his sessions for Modern Records between 1954 and 1962. Be Careful Baby is a rare thing a B.B. King song that has never been released before in any version, while two tracks appeared on Ace's 2014 RPM compilation Speak Easy. The version of Catfish Blues is from a completely different session to the familiar issued version and from B.B.'s commentary appears to be the version he played on the road. There are many comments from B.B. and the band which provide an insight into the recording process and B.B.'s relaxed and informal manner in the studio. The CD ends with a previous unheard interview, recorded backstage at the Fillmore Ballroom in San Francisco with radio station KSAY at the 10/10 spot on your dial. All tracks are from the original master tapes.

I had made no analysis of the wisdom of the war or what was in store for me. But after President Roosevelt declared war in his "Day of Infamy" speech (December 8, 1941), I wanted to join the fighting forces.

The Golden Ratio is the fifth album by Swedish pop music group, Ace of Base. It was recorded in late 2009, through mid-2010. It is the first album to feature two new vocalists: Clara Hagman and Julia Williamson. Production on a fifth album initially began with former band member, and lead vocalist, Jenny Berggren. The resulting sessions were shelved. Berggren decided to formally part with the band in 2009, launching a solo career.
The Golden Ratio marks the band's first album of completely new material since their 2002 album, Da Capo. The album entered the German album charts at #20 and at # 100 in Switzerland.

The second volume of Ace’s Shirelles reissue project finds our heroines firmly entrenched as America’s premiere group. Shirley, Doris, Beverly and Micki (“Mouse” to her friends) were on top of the world as they rang in 1962 at the Apollo Theater’s holiday show – the youngest-ever women to headline Harlem’s fabled showplace. 1961 had seen them rise to dizzying heights with seven major hits, numerous TV appearances and non-stop touring, including an appearance at the Hollywood Bowl. The craze they had incited was booming – the Apollo bill featured the Marvelettes, who had recently become the second girl-group chart-toppers.
