Originally formed in 1969 by Vincent Crane, when the UK progressive rock scene was exploding, Atomic Rooster were one of the great keyboard driven bands of the time. Despite numerous line-up changes featuring such luminaries as Carl Palmer and John Cann, Atomic Rooster found success in 1971 with "Tomorrow Night" and "The Devil's Answer." This rare footage comes from the 1972 incarnation of the band featuring ex-Colosseum vocalist Chris Farlowe and still has a fantastic intensity in its performance. Enjoy again this lost treasure from the vaults.

Rare Deep Purple performing for the TV cameras in Europe during the early seventies. Included here are the songs that propelled the band to greatness. Also featured are the earliest known recordings of the classic Mark II line up of Blackmore, Lord, Paice, Gillan and Glover. This is Deep Purple putting new material through it's paces that would ultimately surface on the legendary first album, 'Deep Purple in Rock', including the earliest versions of the all time classics 'Speed King' and 'Child in Time'. A unique feature of the material is the time and space allocated to Ritchie Blackmore to stretch out and demonstrate the amazing virtuoso technique.

New title in the excellent value "Booksets" range. These are limited edition, multi-CD sets packaged in DVD sized Ecol-books, containing the contents of rare, expensive & hitherto unavailable box sets. Finally, EL&P has a retrospective to match the band's music. 5 CDs, basically chronologically arranged. The set includes unheard mixes and an excellent unreleased 'Tarkas'-era track that would have benefitted that album greatly. After a raft of chances missed where presenting the 'band that never ends' were concerned, the record label has, as this review's title says, at last made up for it all. Anyone hearing these CDs will be unable to laugh at the band or take them lightly. Emerson, Lake and Palmer truly were the greatest progressive act on earth. And, now, here's the proof.

Set 4: "Iconoclastic Madness" - Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY, on August 13, 1972. This set and its companion, the eight-CD volume two, display all the strengths that made Emerson, Lake & Palmer one of the world's most popular bands during the '70s, and the weakness that comes with a trio's attempt to play complicated music. Keith Emerson was a virtuoso keyboard player, Greg Lake supplied a pleasant voice and flair for writing melodic songs, and Carl Palmer played drums as though he would perish if he stopped. But the group lacked the depth of fellow progressive rock bands, such as Yes and King Crimson. Those groups supplied multiple lead instrumentalists – Yes with their guitar/keyboard tandem and Crimson with their venerable guitarist, Robert Fripp, and a series of cohorts who played saxophone, violin, or second guitar.
