Bless the Weather is a 1971 album by John Martyn and marks his return as a solo artist having released two albums with his wife Beverley Martyn. When it was released it garnered his best reviews to date, and remains a firm favourite among fans, featuring such standards as "Head and Heart" and the title track. The album is predominantly acoustic, although it does feature Martyn's first real 'echoplex' track in "Glistening Glyndebourne". Q magazine chose Bless the Weather among the dozen essential folk albums of all time in 1999. According to Q the album was recorded in just three days. In November 2007 Bless the Weather was included in a list by The Guardian newspaper entitled '1000 Albums to Hear Before You Die'.

Label: Edsel Records | Rel: 2014

This 3CD set will be altogether a more comprehensive affair, with a greatest hits selection spanning the first two CDs and the third containing rarities (we are assured these selections won’t repeat what was on the Edsel reissues) and a brand new Live in Tokyo 2013 performance. CD 1 and CD 2 include Belinda’s singles from her seven solo albums, from her first hit “Mad About You”, via worldwide multi-million sellers like “Heaven Is A Place On Earth”, “I Get Weak”, “Circle In The Sand”, “(We Want) The Same Thing” and “Live Your Life Be Free” to 2013’s comeback single “Sun” and fabulous the brand new recording “Goodbye Just Go”. CD 3 features five rarities. Produced by Chic’s Bernard Edwards, “Dancing In The City” featured in the Whoopi Goldberg film “Burglar”, while “I Won’t Say (I’m In Love)” was in Disney’s “Hercules”. "Bless The Beasts And The Children" is from PETA's 1991 charity album, “Tame Yourself” and "Christmas Lullaby" is from 1995's various artists album “Mother & Child”. Belinda’s version of the Sex Pistols’ “Submission” is from an album of cover versions entitled “Essential Interpretations”, with backing from UK alternative rock band Radiator. The disc is completed by a previously unreleased semi-acoustic live show recorded in Tokyo on 31st October 2013.

The duo's best album, and the place to start beyond the hits compilations. Up to the release of A Song for You, the Carpenters' success had seemed an awesome if somewhat fluky phenomenon, built on prodigious talent, some beautifully crafted pop sensibilities, and a very fortunate choice of singles…

Kenny Burrell's guitaristry is well-documented in his years with Oscar Peterson and on his first dates as a leader on the Blue Note label, but God Bless the Child, his only date for CTI in 1971, is an under-heard masterpiece in his catalog. Burrell's band for the set includes bassist Ron Carter, percussionist Ray Barretto, Richard Wyands on piano, flutist Hubert Laws, trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, and drummer Billy Cobham.
