A dynamite blend of original blues & swing featuring guest appearances by some of Canada's finest blues legends: Dutch Mason, Donnie "Mr.Downchild" Walsh, Jack de Keyzer, Tony D & more!
Second cd for Big Daddy G features great guitar, swinging B3 organ plus one of the top harmonica players around.
There are several different guest vocalists on this CD. With one of the guest vocalists being a bona-fide Canadian blues legend in the name of Richard “Hock” Walsh, original vocalist from Downchild Blues Band, they are already off to a rousing start. His 3 appearances on the CD are easily recognizable and it is clear that he is still in top form after all these years.
With other guest artists such as Johnny V (if you’ve seen Eddy `The Chief’ Clearwater perform in the past year or so then you’ve seen Johnny V as well) playing some tasty slide guitar on “Crosseyed Cat” how can you go wrong.
Big Daddy Wilson was born less than 50 years ago in a small town called Edenton, North Carolina. The population of Edenton counts less than 6000, 55% African Americans, 25% below the poverty line. “We were very poor but I had a very beautiful childhood“, Wilson remembers. “Me and my sisters were raised by Mom and Grandma. We lived a simple life, we went to church every Sunday, school on weekdays. I also worked back then on the tobacco plantation and in the cotton fields, I was a real country boy.“
This CD is very special, because this is my first duo CD. It gives me the chance to record a few of my favourite songs in a small formation. We used only one guest musician per song. We tried to make our version of these songs as simple as possible. 'So that the pure sound of the guitar and voices might stand out. That you might drift into the story and feel the mood of the moment. Most of the songs on this CD are recorded for easy listening. We chose mostly slower songs and we tried to give them all a little touch of Blues.–by Big Daddy Wilson
