Hypnotherapy is arguably the oldest modality of psychological “therapy”, at least in the modern sense. Psychologists have long attempted to conceptualize hypnosis in terms of cognitive and behavioral processes and the term “cognitive-behavioral approach to hypnosis” was first coined in 1974 by Theodore Barber, and his colleagues, one of the most prolific and influential researchers in the field of hypnosis. Since then cognitive research on hypnosis has continued to evolve alongside the assimilation of modern cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques within the framework of hypnotherapy and vice versa.

"Rough And Ready" is an important transitional album for Jeff Beck. Moving away from the amped-up blues of BECK-OLA and presaging the cutting-edge fusion of "Blow By Blow", "Rough And Ready" is a mixture of gutsy, funky R&B, slicing, distortion-heavy rock, and progressive, jazzy flourishes. The addition of keyboardist Max Middleton changes the sound of the Group, hinting at its future fusion experiments, yet vocalist Bob Tench keeps thing firmly grounded with his mainstream-styled blues-rock singing.

Originally released in 1972, "Jeff Beck Group" was the fourth and final studio album for the legendary group. The band fully exploits the wildly unique instrumentation of Beck, a classical-jazz oriented pianist in Max Middleton, the soul-groove of Clive Chaman on bass, Cozy Powell's steady drumming and the expressive vocals of Bob Tench. This innovative music was way ahead of its time. The album features some of the most inspired lead playing of Beck's career.

Powerful jazz-rock fusion with a touch of funk, "Wired" is Beck's follow-up to the popular "Blow By Blow". Extending on the blues breakthroughs he made with the Yardbirds, Beck's style had by this time crystalized into something lyric and soaring, showing the influence of John McLaughlin and The Mahavishnu Orchestra, while retaining the slightly manic edge that has remained his trademark.

„Blow By Blow“, „Wired“ and „Truth“ may be Beck's best-known albums, but 1980's „There And Back“ is probably his most underrated and oft-overlooked work. Beck's guitar playing is still exceptional, and his six-string skills again take center stage on this third vocal-less album in a row. 'The Pump' is an absolute Beck classic, while Beck's muscular playing on 'El Becko,' 'Space Boogie,' and 'The Final Peace' is simply awesome. Another key ingredient to the album's success is the superb drumming of session ace Simon Philips, especially on the aforementioned 'Space Boogie'. The brilliant guitar shredder truly throws down some of his classiest and hardest driving repertoire for this amazing career album.
