The Musea label and the Finnish magazine Colossus endlessly continue their quest for the greatest universal themes, in order to complete their collection of concept-albums dedicated to Progressive rock. The hero of the day is Dante Alighieri, the famous medieval author from Firenze who wrote "The Divine Comedy". That's precisely this epic piece of work, without a doubt one of the greatest books of all times, that serves as the basis for this project. And of course, it has been divided in three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso. The first volume is made of thirty-four "cantos" dispatched on four discs, each one showing the personal interpretation of an international band, according to the rules of the genre: no drumboxes, the only instruments allowed are those of the mighty Seventies, the same as for the musical inspiration. Nuova Era, Nemo, Nexus, Willowglass, Ars Nova, Sinkadus, Simon Says and many more…

Additional music, including alternate and unused compositions, was released with the book The Music of the Lord of the Rings. Shore composed the music in an emotional, operatic way, threading through the scores over 90 identified leitmotifs, which are categorized by the Middle-earth cultures to which they relate. The scores for The Fellowship of the Ring and The Return of the King won Academy Awards in 2002 and 2004. The latter film also won an Oscar statuette for Best Song, as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and Best Original Song.

Universal Records is about to uncork a reissue campaign on November 21 that will give Rush fans a few more 5.1 digital surround sound reboots of albums from the band's classic Mercury Records catalog. The "Sector" Rush reissues will collect all 15 Mercury-era Rush releases in three separate sets, each containing five albums, with a total of 18 discs overall. All of the albums have been freshly remastered and formatted with packaging that mimics the original vinyl LP. Additionally, updated booklets for each release will contain previously unseen photographs along with the original credits and album lyrics. The real meat of these new reissues though will be the brand new 5.1 versions of three signature Rush albums - "Fly By Night", "A Farewell To Kings", and "Signals". There's one hitch, though - the three new releases will be divided up as bonus DVD discs, packaged one per volume across the three volumes of "Sector" reissues.

Evgeny Kissin - The Early Recordings (2007) 5 CD Box Set [Historic Russian Archives]

Evgeny Kissin - The Early Recordings (2007) 5 CD Box Set [Historic Russian Archives]
EAC | FLAC | Image (Cue&Log) ~ 1.1 Gb (incl 5%) | Mp3 (CBR320) ~ 703 Mb (incl 5%) | Scans included
Genre: Classical | Label: Brilliant Classics | # 8528 | Time: 04:47:31

This is the second of Brilliant's box sets devoted to Russian recordings from Evgeny Kissin. Labeled as early, these live concert performances from 1984 to 1990 carry us from the day after Kissin turned 13 (Mozart Cto. #12 K. 414) to age 18 (Mozart Cto. #20, K. 466), with most readings clustering in the range of 1985-89. Russians were well aware of the marvel in their midst; the pianist's American breakthrough occurred in 1990 when he debuted at Carnegie Hall's centennial season. No one since Richter, debuting almost thirty years before, had made such a heady entry, and Richter was past fifty when he came here (briefly, since he loathed American capitalism and the pace of life in our big cities).
