Keyboardist Kevin Moore will be familiar to fans of modern progressive rock through his work as a former member of Dream Theater and from his solo work under the name Chroma Key; more recently, he has worked with several other prog luminaries in the experimental supergroup O.S.I. But Ghost Book is an almost purely solo endeavor, a soundtrack album consisting of work commissioned by Turkish novelist Dogu Yucal for use in the film adaptation of his novel Havalet Kitap (or "Ghost Book"). Yucel was a longstanding fan of Moore's work in Dream Theater and had quoted some of the band's lyrics in his novel, so the pairing was natural…

Blues Alive is a live album by Irish guitarist Gary Moore, released in 1993. It is a collection of recordings taken from his 1992 tour and draws most of its material from Moore's then-recent Still Got The Blues and After Hours albums. The Japanese Limited Edition includes a bonus CD single.

Gary Moore's tribute to Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green, Blues for Greeny, is more of a showcase for Moore's skills than Green's songwriting. After all, Green was more famous for his technique than his writing. Consequently, Moore uses Green's songs as a starting point, taking them into new territory with his own style. And Moore positively burns throughout Blues for Greeny, tearing off licks with ferocious intensity. If anything, the album proves that Moore is at his best when interpreting other people's material – it easily ranks as one of his finest albums.

Not wanting to leave a good thing behind, Moore reprises Still Got the Blues on its follow-up, After Hours. While his playing is just as impressive, the album feels a little calculated. Nevertheless, Moore's gutsy, impassioned playing makes the similarity easy to ignore.

New York-born singer Indra Rios-Moore, now living in Barcelona, releases her new album “Carry My Heart”. It comes right after her pretty successful (at least in Europe) “Heartland” album. One of the most sympathetic features of the album is the fact that Indra wanted to record an optimistic record because there was (and is) simply too much whining going on. Not that most of the current matters aren’t disheartening, but it feels good to be warmed and eased by Indra’s warm and caressing voice on covers such as “I Can See Clearly Now” or Curtis Mayfield’s “Keep On Pushin'”. Still, you can file this one under “protest” albums, too because during the writing process, a certain Drumpf took over the White House.

Barbara Montgomery's strongest album came in 2000, when the Philadelphia-based jazz singer recorded her ambitious Chick Corea tribute, Dakini Land. As a rule, her work has been decent, but Dakini Land (Montgomery's third album) was especially memorable – it was interesting to hear a vocalist offering her perspectives on Corea's music. Although Dakini Land was a tough act to follow, Montgomery's fourth album, Little Sunflower, is a respectable follow-up.
