The combination of King and the well-oiled Philly rhythm section that powered hits by the O'Jays, Spinners, and Stylistics proved a surprisingly adroit one. Two huge hits came from this album, the Stevie Wonder/Syreeta Wright-penend title track and "I Like to Live the Love," both of them intriguing updates of King's tried-and-true style.

Riley B. King (born September 16, 1925), known by the stage name B.B. King, is an American blues musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at No. 6 on its 2011 list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time (previously ranked No. 3 in the 2003 edition of the same list), and he was ranked No. 17 in Gibson's "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time". According to Edward M. Komara, King "introduced a sophisticated style of soloing based on fluid string bending and shimmering vibrato that would influence virtually every electric blues guitarist that followed." King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. He is considered one of the most influential blues musicians of all time, earning the nickname "The King of Blues", and one of the "Three Kings of the Blues Guitar" (along with Albert King and Freddie King). King is also known for performing tirelessly throughout his musical career, appearing at 250-300 concerts per year until his seventies.

He may be 85 these days, but B.B. King is still B.B. King, and any time he sings or delivers those signature clean, jazzy, and warm guitar lines, it's an extra gift from a musician who has given us listeners and fans so much for so long. This warm, celebratory, and good-natured live set was recorded on June 28, 2011 at London's Royal Albert Hall and features King in chatty good humor and a whole host of guests, including guitarist Derek Trucks, singer Susan Tedeschi, the Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood, Simply Red's Mick Hucknall, and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash…

This set is paying tribute to the founding father of blues and rock guitar styles. All in all: a cornerstone of every serious blues collection!! CD1 'The Great B.B. King' (features his most popular songs); CD2 'Memphis Blues 'n' Boogie' (incl. the early Memphis recordings made by Sam Phillips); CD3 'Take a Swing With Me' (shows the full range of B.B.'s stylistic talents in the mid-late 1950s from blues and r&b to doo wop, gospel and jazz); CD4 'King Of The Blues' (sees B.B. establishing his unique, trendsetting blues style by the 1960s).

The potential for a collaboration between B.B. King and Eric Clapton is enormous, of course, and the real questions concern how it is organized and executed. This first recorded pairing between the 74-year-old King and the 55-year-old Clapton was put together in the most obvious way: Clapton arranged the session using many of his regular musicians, picked the songs, and co-produced with his partner Simon Climie.

Released the week of B.B. King's 80th birthday, 80 is a star-studded duets album, the first B.B. released since 1997's Deuces Wild. It was recorded in a variety of locations in the spring of 2005 and features a variety of guest artists, ranging from the familiar (Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Bobby Bland) to the unsurprising (Billy Gibbons, Mark Knopfler, Elton John, Sheryl Crow) to the frankly bewildering (John Mayer, Daryl Hall, Gloria Estefan)…
