Annette. To legions of Mickey Mouse Club fans she was magic. Chosen by Walt himself as an original cast member, Annette soon became the most popular Mousketeer and was given a daily series of her own. Showcased here is the entire fish-out-of-water series, about an innocent girl from the country who moves to the suburbs to live with her well-to-do aunt and uncle. Airing during the third and final season of The Mickey Mouse Club, the 20-episode series was unlike earlier series – it featured original music including the song that helped launch Annette's music career. Enriching this celebration of Annette are the two complete Mickey Mouse Club episodes that introduced and concluded the series, plus a new tribute to her remarkable career and more. Featuring exclusive introductions by film historian Leonard Maltin, this is a timeless collection from generations past for generations to come.

James Tipton "Annette Vallon: A Novel of the French Revolution"
Harper Perennial | English | November 4, 2008 | ISBN: 0060822228 | 528 pages | azw, epub, lrf, mobi | 3,55 mb

This book is two stories in one. The first story is a love story, about the relationship between Annette Vallon and William Wordsworth. These two romantic souls found their perfect matches in each other, and Annette seemed to inspire Wordsworth's poetry. Unfortunately, events conspired to prevent them from living their dream of a life together. The second story is the story of France's struggles during the series of waves of violence that made up the French Revolution.

Genre: Jazz | Label: HighNote

Steve Turre demonstrates once again why he is one of the first call trombonists in the world on his fifth recording for HighNote Records, WOODY S DELIGHT. This record is an aptly named homage to his mentor and former boss, Woody Shaw. Steve offers an intensely interesting program featuring five of today's greatest trumpeters in a program that captures at once Woody's fierce intensity, his limitless imagination and versatility and refracts it through the creative mind of Turre who delivers a tribute record which goes far beyond playing familiar repertoire but rather recalls the very spirit of its subject. On hand to help are the trumpeters Jon Faddis, Wallace Roney, Claudio Roditi, Freddie Hendrix and Chocolate Armenteros.

The Canadian Sensation label is scheduled to reissue every Annette Hanshaw recording on ten CDs. Vol. 5 was actually released first. Unfortunately, ten of its 25 selections find the wonderful young singer (just 17-18 during this period) performing with Frank Ferera's Hawaiian Trio, a group consisting of steel guitar, conventional guitar, and ukulele. Although Hanshaw sounds fine, she is mostly in a supporting role and there is an awful lot heard from the steel guitar! The other 15 selections (which include "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," "That's Just My Way of Forgetting You," "My Blackbiards Are Bluebirds Now," and "You're the Cream in My Coffee") are mostly on a higher level although the four cartoonish Helene Kane imitations (best is the humorous "Is There Anything Wrong in That") will not be to everyone's taste.

Twentieth Century is the final studio album for Australian band Cold Chisel until the group reformed in 1998. The album was written and recorded over various sessions during the period of the band's break-up and during breaks in their final tour. It was released in early 1984 and peaked at No. 1 on the Australian albums chart, their third consecutive album to do so. It charted for a total of 46 weeks. The album was mostly well received and sold well. "Flame Trees" and "Saturday Night" receive strong airplay on classic rock stations in Australia decades after release. Reviewed at the time of release, Juke Magazine said the standout track was "Saturday Night" ("an appealing track with many of Chisel's best qualities filtered through a clever mix. The melody relies heavily on Phil Small's excellent bass line")…
