Stark Naked and Absolutely Live is the first official live album by Alphaville. While the Dreamscapes compilation featured a full CD of live material, its tracks were culled from many different concerts: The tracks on Stark Naked and Absolutely Live were recorded specifically for the purpose of creating the album. The final listed track, Apollo, is followed by a hidden track: an acoustic version of "Dance with Me".

Rickie Lee Jones "unplugged" – in fact, solo with an acoustic guitar or piano on all but a couple of tunes – Naked Songs is otherwise a retrospective concert album on which Jones cherry-picks songs from her five studio albums, including the hits "Chuck E.'s in Love" and "Young Blood," and others from her breakthrough debut record. The studio album arrangements always tried to support and augment Jones' idiosyncratic writing and playing style, which sounds less unusual when she is simply accompanying herself, and in many ways more effective. "Altar Boy," a previously unreleased song, strays into Leonard Cohen territory, mixing religion with eroticism.

The first in a series of New York-based PAK bands was formed in 2000 by guitarists Ron Anderson and Will Redmond, bassist Jesse Krakow, and drummer Race Age. PAK's first three albums, each of which involved multiple changes in personnel, generated comparisons with Frank Zappa, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, and Captain Beefheart. Secret Curve was released in early 2011 on John Zorn's Tzadik label. Anderson is featured here as composer and bass guitarist leading seven edgy improvisers including double-fisted pianist Anthony Coleman, prepared pianist Eve Risser, trumpeter Tim Byrnes, and multi-reed instrumentalist Stefan Zeniuk.

With the exception of "Gentle Eyes", Re-Emerging retained the material from the original album and also introduced four brand new tracks: "My Auburn Lady", "Mighty Lord", "You're My Hero", and "Amelia Earhart's Last Flight".

Alphaville has always embraced technology and used it to produce music to show the coldness of the world. For this release, their cold, distant, sometimes frightening music has been remixed to fit into the sound and the vibes of 2001/2002…

Alphaville's second album, produced for the most part by Peter Walsh, found the group creating something close to a concept record, in overall atmosphere and structure if not in specific storyline. That Alphaville wanted to aim high can be gauged from the credit list – the three core members "composed" the album, while no less than 30 musicians and singers helped perform it…

Alphaville's 1984 debut, Forever Young, deserves to be viewed as a classic synth pop album. There's no doubting that Germans are behind the crystalline Teutonic textures and massive beats that permeate the album, but vocalist Marian Gold's impressive ability to handle a Bryan Ferry croon and many impassioned high passages meant the album would have worldwide appeal…

With cult bands, this is a matter of course: many of them still rest on their hit singles and their typical sound. Alphaville is quite different. Even if hits like "Big In Japan" and "Forever Young" remain unforgotten, the synthpop legends 2017 look into the future - with their new album "Strange Attractor". For seven years fans had to wait for the successor of "Catching Rays On Giant". A time when much happened. Alphaville had to continue on following the loss of keyboardist Martin Lister, who died in 2014.
