It took more than a year, but Warren Ellis' 5-issue miniseries is finally complete with the release of its 5th and final issue last December 2, 2010. The conclusion is one long monologue delivered by Simon Reddin, a British scientist who worked on their post-human program and it relies so much on following through with ideas set up in the previous issues, with Garrie Gastonny ever-consistent with his stunning artwork. acts as the third book in a loose, thematic trilogy of comics about post-humanity done by Ellis for Avatar, following up on and . It stands as the most thought-provoking and challenging of the three books, concerned with tackling an almost impossible idea: how does something not human think and act? Ellis succeeds in laying out some theories and providing a hint of where to go for future writers. may not work completely as a story, but as an argument, a theory for post-human stories, it’s a brilliant piece of work. This conclusion is depressing and challenging and frustrating and disturbing. It’s the sort of comic that sticks with you and changes the way you think about superhero comics. Issues #1-4 are all HQ Minutemen scans while issue #5 is an independent one by an anonymous scanner, with the individual jpeg images saved at very low compression ratios--almost lossless, in fact.

This vocal quartet originally started life as an extension of jazz band the Hi-Lo’s. From that prominent '50s band came Don Shelton, who decided to form Singers Unlimited after the Hi-Lo’s broke up in 1964. After retreating to Chicago, Illinois, where he worked on a series of television commercials, he enlisted fellow Hi-Lo’s veteran Gene Puerling of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to join him in the city in 1967. The group was formed along with Len Dresslar and Bonnie Herman, with the express intention of recording commercials in the doo wop/vocal group idiom. Shelton’s connections in the industry ensured the group was able to exploit the market successfully, and lucrative work rolled in. However, the 30-second snatches of songs hardly satisfied their artistic ambitions, and when they found themselves with studio time left over after one session, they recorded a take on the Beatles' "The Fool on the Hill." Through visiting jazz pianist Oscar Peterson, the demo of the a cappella recording was passed to MPS Records in Germany.

7-Tease might be considered the opening of what one could call Donovan's years in the wilderness. His next to last album, Cosmic Wheels, had managed to generate sales but its successor, Essence to Essence, marked the tipping point beyond which, because of the seeming datedness of his image, or whatever reason, he was no longer regarded by the public as being terribly important or relevant, or his records programmed by radio stations or ordered by record retailers in quantities resembling his earlier work. All of this is a pity because a fair hearing of 7-Tease reveals an album steeped in disillusionment, yet built upon beautiful melodies and some of the most diverse and appealing sounds and arrangements of his career, and a harder rocking sound than he was usually known for (courtesy of Nashville-based producer Norbert Putnam, who'd done something similar for Joan Baez).
