Surfing with the Alien belongs to its era like Are You Experienced? belongs to its own – perhaps it doesn't transcend its time the way the Jimi Hendrix Experience's 1967 debut does, but Joe Satriani's 1987 breakthrough can be seen as the gold standard for guitar playing of the mid- to late '80s, an album that captures everything that was good about the glory days of shred…
Combining nu-metal with serious pop polish and structure, Alien Ant Farm always felt like a band that lived in two worlds: not quite heavy enough to be metal, but a little too fast-paced for the pop set. And while Alien Ant Farm's genre might be unclear, their entry in the 20th Century Masters series gives fans a bird's-eye view of their career and another opportunity to try nailing down what these guys were up to. Given the musicianship on tracks like "Movies" and their cover of the Michael Jackson classic "Smooth Criminal," while it might be hard to describe, it sure did work.
The snarly veined beginnings of the extraterrestrial fiends. Nik, Ms. Fiend & company really pop out from behind their facepaint to have a good-time screamalong. Who can listen to Wardance and not want to pop out of their seat and jump around like a 5 year old playing 1-little-2 little-3 little indiannnns!? "I Walk Alone" and the ever-popular-fiend-anthem "Drive My Rocket Up Uranus" are excellent stand-outs!
The story of Inferno: The Odyssey Continues picks up where the original game Epic leaves off. The Rexxons had captured the human "champion" and genetically altered him to be one of their own. Flying into a rage, the modified champion kills all of the Rexxons on the station, and regains his human form. His newly modified genetic structure now allows his body to be rebuilt from the "information vortex" should his ship be destroyed in combat, but it will only work two times.. The soundtrack of the game was heavily publicized during the period of its release for being composed by British deathrock band Alien Sex Fiend.
Alien Sex Fiend are an English gothic rock band, formed in London, England in 1982. Alien Sex Fiend were formed by Nik Wade (Nik Fiend), Christine Wade (Mrs. Fiend), David James (Yaxi Highrizer) and Johnny Freshwater (Johnny Ha-Ha) in late 1982 at the Batcave club in London (where Nik worked). The band became known in the gothic scene for its dark, electronic industrial-leaning sound, heavy samples, loops, dub remixes and manic vocals. Wade had previously been a member of the Alice Cooper-influenced bands the Earwigs and Mr. & Mrs. Demeanour, and later the punk band Demon Preacher (later known as the Demons).
