Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music
A rather forgotten band from USA,this quintet hailed from Fort Wayne at the state of Indiana.ETHOS got lucky to be signed by Capitol Records and soon they moved to New York in order to record their first album.By the end of 1975 the work was almost ready and the eight arrangements of ”Ardour” were all written by the leader of the band,vocalist/mandolin player/guitarist Will Sharpe.
This legendary band dates back to the beginning of the 70’s in the neighborhood Jardines del Bosque de Guadalajara, where some young friends manage to invent their own band, “That day, the room was filled with magic”, a legend called: “La Revolución de Emiliano Zapata”.
Released on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Alaska's debut single with Pegamoides, this new compilation of quintessential Spanish pop icon Alaska covers her work between 1980 and 2006 with her three bands, Pegamoides, Dinarama, and Fangoria, the latter for the Subterfuge label, but misses their four albums for DRO. The standard edition consists of a single 20-track CD, while the Special Edition Box adds a rarities disc, a remix disc, and a DVD with live performances and video clips.
Essential: a masterpiece of progressive-rock music.
As Nice As Mother Makes It
After two very robust but patchy albums the Nice adopted a slightly different approach to their third by exploiting a half live/half studio hybrid. They felt that this (on the advice of their new manager Tony Stratton-Smith) would showcase the 'best of both worlds' as the studio precedents were not felt to do justice to their live performances.
Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection.
Although admittedly a posthumous release, I was very surprised at the rather dismissive tenor of many of the reviews of this album to date. Hopefully this record will be reappraised soon as being a release worthy of anyone's consideration as I feel it does enhance an already rich legacy left behind by this very fine and innovative band. (So what if Charisma wanted to ride the slipstream of the lucrative ELP juggernaut?)
