2CD, 41 track set. The Blues Songbook presents some of the most exciting blues Alan Lomax ever recorded. Famous and obscure artists roll out a remarkable array of blues from the country, from the city and from prison in this first-of-its-kind compilation overseen by the Lomax estate. Taken from five decades of Alan's best field recordings in the genre, the Songbook includes previously unreleased tracks and features digital transfers using DSD technology. Here is blues at its source: original, impassioned and utterly real. Featured artists include Mississippi Fred McDowell, Howlin' Wolf, Hubert Sumlin, Memphis Slim, Sonny Boy Williamson, Big Bill Broonzy, Muddy Waters, Leadbelly, Son House, Skip James, Jelly Roll Morton, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee…the list goes on and on. All this with a 40 page illustrated booklet including a scholarly essay and song notes by John Cowley and a preface by Martin Scorsese.

One of the most enigmatic figures in rock history, Scott Walker was known as Scotty Engel when he cut obscure flop records in the late '50s and early '60s in the teen idol vein. He then hooked up with John Maus and Gary Leeds to form the Walker Brothers. They weren't named Walker, they weren't brothers, and they weren't English, but they nevertheless became a part of the British Invasion after moving to the U.K. in 1965. They enjoyed a couple of years of massive success there (and a couple of hits in the U.S.) in a Righteous Brothers vein. As their full-throated lead singer and principal songwriter, Walker was the dominant artistic force in the group, who split in 1967. While remaining virtually unknown in his homeland, Walker launched a hugely successful solo career in Britain with a unique blend of orchestrated, almost MOR arrangements with idiosyncratic and morose lyrics. At the height of psychedelia, Walker openly looked to crooners like Sinatra, Jack Jones, and Tony Bennett for inspiration, and to Jacques Brel for much of his material. None of those balladeers, however, would have sung about the oddball subjects – prostitutes, transvestites, suicidal brooders, plagues, and Joseph Stalin – that populated Walker's songs.

Friends is a song by Canadian singer Justin Bieber and American record producer and songwriter BloodPop. It was written by Bieber, Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter and BloodPop, with production handled by BloodPop. Elisa has released the video of her new single Ogni Istante, of which she was responsible for the screenplay and direction. The artist, at the first test behind the camera, appears sitting at a wooden table surrounded by nature! Unforgettable is a song by Moroccan-American rapper French Montana. It was released through Epic Records and Bad Boy Records as the lead singles from his second studio album Jungle Rules along with No Pressure. Third excerpt from Canadian Dragonette’s Royal Blues album, High Five appeals to the audience and grabs the listener with its merry and joyful mood.

Although more Grandmix editions have been made like the 80's and 90's editions, this marks the 28th annual Grandmix and is broadcasted on Radio 538. Unfortunately some foreign record companies consider the Grandmix as just another compilation license request. Their lack of knowledge of DJ and mix history sometimes leaves them stuck in unnecessary restricting company policies. All Dutch dance related companies are no problem, as most of the people working there got into the dance music business because of the early Grandmixes. Armada, Spinnin' and News are absolutly fabulous in their cooperation for which I, in return, am very greatful.

With four recordings in six months, this seems to be open season for the Poulenc motets. The newcomers are up against stiff competition, and don't emerge unscathed from comparison either with the college next door (under Marlow on Conifer) or with the choir under the musical director of the one further along the road (Rutter on Collegium/Gamut).

Alan Parsons delivered a detailed blueprint for his Project on their 1975 debut, Tales of Mystery and Imagination, but it was on its 1977 follow-up, I Robot, that the outfit reached its true potential. Borrowing not just its title but concept from Isaac Asimov's classic sci-fi Robot trilogy, this album explores many of the philosophies regarding artificial intelligence - will it overtake man, what does it mean to be man, what responsibilities do mechanical beings have to their creators, and so on and so forth - with enough knotty intelligence to make it a seminal text of late-'70s geeks, and while it is also true that appreciating I Robot does require a love of either sci-fi or art rock, it is also true that sci-fi art rock never came any better than this…
