A five-piece band led by guitarist and composer Motohiko Ichino that brings together musical talents from varied jazz careers, Rabbitoo are fast becoming one of the freshest and coolest bands on the Japanese scene. While all the musicians have solid jazz credentials (three have graduated from Berklee College of Music, and different members have played with the likes of Terumasa Hino, Michiyo Yagi, Peter Brotzmann and Ryosuke Hashizume), it's also clear that this group of musicians have musical interests that go beyond jazz, with the album also embracing elements of post-rock and electronica. National Anthem Of Unknown Country is a truly impressive debut and should become one of the year's essential releases.

Water Security in the Middle East: Essays in Scientific and Social Cooperation (Anthem Water Diplomacy Series) by Jean Cahan

Water Security in the Middle East argues that, while conflicts over transboundary water systems in the Middle East do occur, they tend not to be violent nor are they the primary cause of a war in this region. The contributors in this collection of essays place water disputes in larger political, historical and scientific contexts and discuss how the humanities and social sciences contribute towards this understanding.

Formed in 2007 by best friends, Ben Knox Miller and Jeff Prystowsky, The Low Anthem grew from DIY ethos in the late-aughts to semi-accidental success. Having originally self-released What The Crow Brings and Oh My God, Charlie Darwin (which sold a combined 100,000+ copies), the group signed with Nonesuch, toured the world, and were reluctantly lumped in with the so-called "folk revival". However, night after night of performing their early material was not ultimately where they wanted to land: “The moment was losing its mystery. We were scared of becoming robots,” said the band after six years of reflection.
