From Portugal comes this excellent production of melodic Crossover Prog from Esfera, "All the Colours of Madness". Awesome clarity in all instruments and yet so well mixed as to have a very tight blend of really wonderful prog. With the excellent lead singing (in English), I found myself thinking of both Tinyfish and Bruce Sood's Pineapple Thief and even a little The Mars Volta throughout this album. Excellent addition to any prog lover's music collection. (BrufordFreak)

Colours of the Heart is the debut disc from emerging violinist Midori Komachi, and Steinway pianist Simon Callaghan. Highly sought after for their performances of the Delius Violin Sonatas, these two award-winning artists based their album on the intriguing story of Delius and Gauguin. English composer Frederick Delius was the first owner of Paul Gauguin's painting Nevermore, and centred around their friendship, the artistic circle of composers and painters expanded. Exploring the world of harmonic colours, the album invites the audience to experience the inspiration shared between Delius and Gauguin, and their resonances upon their friends: Ravel, Grieg and Debussy.

Slovenian guitar ace Samo Salamon fronts a European ensemble akin to one of those legendary all-star jazz summits, but of course these colorific works veer off into an experimental wonderland of improvisation with split-second paradigm shifts amid the ensemble's synergistic discourses. Nonetheless, the respective musicians are at the top of their game here, as Salamon arranged for drummers Roberto Dani and Christian Lillinger to generate the seismic currents by staying in synch but not necessarily executing the same patterns.
