Great idea on paper - invite rock's Van Morrison, his then-organ/vocal-sidekick Georgie Fame, singer/pianist/producer Ben Sidran, and Mose Allison himself to compile a celebration of one of the most delightfully idiosyncratic songwriters of our time. And these are serious Allison buffs indeed, for they chose tunes from the back catalog that Mose rarely performed live in the '90s, with hardly a well-known Allison standard in the batch (the exception being "I Don't Want Much").

Building Nothing Out of Something collects Modest Mouse singles and rare tracks from the group's indie-label years, including the studio tracks from the Interstate 8 EP and their contributions to the Sub Pop Singles Club. Despite the songs' motley origins, Building Nothing Out of Something works well as an album, balancing the group's quirky and often poignant pop songs with their more abrasive rock side.

40/40: The Best Selection is a comprehensive double-disc career overview of Olivia Newton-John designed to celebrate her four decades in show business. Yes, the compilation runs 40 tracks, but this is not designed to showcase each era of Olivia's career in equal measure. Perhaps there are a few more latter-day cuts than most audiences would know, and maybe there are a few more early tracks than needed, but all the big hits are here, from the early mellow country-rock to the slick soft rock and melodic disco of the turn of the '80s. Compared to the U.S. compilation Gold, this isn't quite as good - there's too much of the two bookends of a long career - but it does have what most casual audiences require: all the hits, all sounding as good as they ever have.

Monty Python's And Now For Something Completely Different was first released in the US in 1973, but didn't really take off as a midnight-movie fixture until after the Monty Python's Flying Circus TV series began making the PBS rounds. Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam are the Pythonites in attendance, together with semiregulars Carol Cleveland and Connie Booth. The sketches presented include such classics as "The Lumberjack Song", "Hell's Grannies", "The Upperclass Twit of the Year Race", and, of course, "The Dead Parrot". Additionally, Terry Gilliam's animated-cartoon interpolations act as buffers between sketches.
