There are far too many titles to assemble any compilation even remotely comprehensive, but we did want to pause in our release schedule to take a moment to remember just a few of our favorites. This four CD set features a total of five hours of music and becomes the biggest compilation we've ever assembled.
World Saxophone Quartet - The New Chapter: The 25th Anniversary (2000)

World Saxophone Quartet - The New Chapter: The 25th Anniversary (2000)
Jazz, Post Bop | MP3 320 kbps CBR |Scans | 51 min | 120 MB
Label: Justin Time | Rel: 2000

After nearly two dozen recordings and in celebration of their 25th anniversary, the World Saxophone Quartet has proven that they are still on the cutting edge of avant-garde jazz in the new century. 25th Anniversary: The Next Chapter features the four brilliant saxophonists: Oliver Lake on alto saxophone; John Purcell on saxello, alto-flute, and Tibetan bells; David Murray on tenor saxophonist and bass clarinet; and Hamiet Bluiett on baritone saxophone and contra-alto clarinet doing what they do best, creating daring concepts as a collective. This CD offers their first-ever experiment with overdubbing on Purcell's title cut, "The New Chapter." David Murray's funky "Suki Suki Now" finds him extending his range on the tenor saxophone with intensity and abandon. This is the WSQ's sixth recording for the Justin Time label and exceeds the listening possibilities and interpretations of their Takin' It to the Next Level CD because of their extensive range of approaches, new sonorities, hi-tech themes, and the overdubbing experimentation.

This is a specially priced, two-CDs-for-the-price-of-one photo-cube set, loaded with great stuff from Charlie Musselwhite, Koko Taylor, Lonnie Brooks, Johnny Winter, Billy Boy Arnold, Lonnie Mack, and a host of others who have trotted their wares on the label over the years. Besides giving the novice one great introduction to the label (as the music runs from traditional to modern), the big bonus here is a treasure trove of previously unissued tracks from Roy Buchanan (a chaotic version of Link Wray's "Jack the Ripper"); Floyd Dixon (a recut of his Blues Brothers-approved hit "Hey Bartender"); Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland in a marvelous outtake from the Showdown! album ("Something to Remember You By"); and the band that started it all, Hound Dog Taylor & the Houserockers, with a crazed version of Elmore James' "Look on Yonder's Wall," as sloppy as it is cool. Very good stuff.

Fantastic compilation from the Carpenters! INTERPRETATIONS' main theme is a collection of songs not home-brewed by Richard Carpenter, but rather the group's interpretation of others material. Initially released in the UK and Canada in 1994, the album was re-worked for a US release in 1995, both claiming to be part of a 25th anniversary celebration. The UK/Canada release of the album (540 251-2), arrived in stores in 1994 featured 21 tracks, as opposed to the now-common US version with 16 tracks.

EAC Rip | FLAC (Image) +CUE, LOG | 1.55 GB | Covers Included
Genre: Heavy Metal, NWOBHM | Label: Castle Music | Catalog Number: CMETD1022

This is by far the best New Wave Of British Heavy Metal collection on the market. It features some of the more known bands of the movement such as Diamond Head and Saxon (of course, not many NWOBHM bands could be referred to as "known"), as well as obscure acts such as Dark Star, Atomkraft, and Aragorn.
