Ingmar Bergman (1918- 2007) made fifty films, directed more than 150 theatre productions and wrote several books, but the recurrent thread running through his life was music. He often said that if he hadn't become a director he would have wished to become a conductor, and went so far as to claim that ‘film and music are almost the same thing. They are means of expression and communication that go beyond human wisdom and that touch a person’s emotional centre.’ Bergman’s interest in classical music became evident early on in his career.

This is an amazing motion picture which tracks the production of meat, starting with livestock, and ending with the clear-wrapped steaks we find in our markets. A stark, straight forward black and white account of how animals become food. Brutally honest and unflinching, this film is not for the faint of heart. It pulls no punches - but simply and graphically traces the process of stunning, slaughter, disembowelment, dismemberment, and butchering of animals. There is no narrative. Just an impassive, no-frills recording of the process by the eye of the camera. You will probably have a hard time going back to a plate of meat too soon after viewing this film.

He feels at home in places we would flee from and lives his life among the very things we fear. Throughout his life, HR Giger had inhabited the world of the uncanny, a dark universe on the brink of many an abyss. It was the only way this amiable, modest and humorous man was able to keep his fears in check. Giger was merely the bearer of dark messages, charting our nightmares, drafting maps of our subconscious and molding our primal fears. A film with and about the internationally acclaimed and controversial painter, sculptor, architect and designer.
