Verities & Balderdash is a very strange and wonderful album. “Cat’s in the Cradle” was the driving force behind the album’s sales, but there’s a lot more to appeal to listeners, along with enough personal, topical material to make it seem a bit didactic at the time, but Chapin was cultivating a politically committed audience. Verities & Balderdash walked several fine lines, between topical songwriting and an almost (but not quite) pretentious sense of its own importance, humor and seriousness, and balladry and punditry, all intermingled with catchy, highly commercial ballads such as “I Wanna Learn a Love Song” (which is about as pretty a song as he ever wrote).

Sublime early work from Stan Getz — a lyrical genius even at this early point in his career ! There's a subtle brilliance here that's undeniable — a tenor sound that draws from Lester Young and Ben Webster, but which pushes into fresh new territory for the 50s — lean, but still very soulful at the core — a blend that none of Stan's contemporaries could ever match this well ! The album features a group that includes a very young Bob Brookmeyer on valve trombone, plus rhythm by Teddy Kotick, John Williams, and Frank Isola. Tracks are longish and easily swinging — and Getz's tone, as always, makes the whole thing come together like magic!

A beautiful, dreamy album by German folk rockers Emtidi! This one belongs to Pilz catalogue (where have been signed all the best of German “acid” folk at the beginning of the 70’s).

Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music
Just another sublime Renaissance album! Following the marvelous “Song for Scheherazade”, Novella still has many of its magical moments. There are wonderful orchestral arrangements, unforgettable melodic piano parts, and the bass is well played, sophisticated and absolutely not timid. Annie’s voice is superb, as always, and the other musicians produce excellent backing vocals.

The Police were back in 1983 with Synchronicity, which hit No. 1 everywhere and remained on top a phenomenal 17 weeks in the U.S. The gold, Grammy-winning "Every Breath You Take" was No. 1 for eight weeks. "Wrapped Around Your Finger" was Top 10 and both "King Of Pain" and "Synchronicity II" became Top 20 hits. The quadruple platinum album took home a Grammy as well. "I do my best work when I'm in pain and turmoil," Sting told Rolling Stone. And indeed, the dissolution of his first marriage produced some of his best work yet, including "King of Pain" and the stalker's anthem "Every Breath You Take." There was pain and turmoil in the band, too — it would be the Police's last album."

One of the strengths of vocalist Tierney Sutton and her long time team of Christian Jacob/p, Kevin Axt-Trey Henry/b and Ray Brinker/dr is that they know how to select themes for their projects. Sutton and company have successfully created homages to Sinatra, Joni Mitchell and even the American Folk Book. This time around, she focuses on the pen of Gordon Matthew Thomas Summer, aka “Sting”, with material from The Police and solo career joining together through the puree of Sutton’s deliver.

For me the best Secret Policeman's volume
At the time that I am listening to "The Police", on the radio played two songs from Sting's solo live: 'Roxanne' and 'Message In A Bottle'. These two songs have soul, feeling.

Essential: A masterpiece of progressive rock music.
1978's HEAVY HORSES, as many fans will agree, was the last truly great album from Ian Anderson and company, and remains one that I play more often than many other Tull efforts. Track for track, like the massive equines of its title, HEAVY HORSES stands head and shoulders above its lesser brethren that followed. To further extend the metaphor, some of the later entries may well run faster, but they just can't match the pull and staying power of this very strong – but often gentle – and beautiful beast of noble lineage.
