Having never made a completely satisfactory album, in part because many of their songs sound somewhat similar, this short but sweet 9-track “best-of” culls the most essential songs from the band’s first five studio albums and neatly sums up a damn good singles band.

I was lucky enough to find this compilation at a store years ago. Not sure how rare it is or not but its excellent. And was an excellent introduction to Hawkwind for me. I went on to buy several of their other albums because of this one.

This 3-piece in my mind blew ELP out of its own native waters! Rick Van Der Linden is a criminally underrated keyboard maestro with more than a few good ideas.

Claire Boucher aka Grimes' fourth album, produced and engineered by herself. Spanning over 14 tracks, the new album features collaborations with Janelle Monáe and newcomer, Taiwanese rapper Aristophanes. It was recorded primarily in her home studio in Los Angeles, CA, where she relocated to in 2014. Like all of her previous albums, Art Angels was written and recorded entirely as a solo endeavor. The new album features more live instrumentation than ever before on a Grimes record. She plays piano, guitar and violin, continuing her evolution as a musician and a producer for her most ambitious album to date.

Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection
Soul is dead’, stated Embryo on it’s debut album in 1970. Yet fellow Germans Kin Ping Meh might have proved them wrong with their pleasant eclectic rock debut. The band has a well produced and professional sound that is actually very English. On their debut Kin Ping Meh plays a mix of styles, which makes it an interesting album to listen to for the seventies rock/psych fan. Double heavy rock guitars, perfect Hammond sound, soulful approach on some tracks and some winks towards symphonic and psychedelic rock. The artwork looks great on my vinyl reprint

Dutch keyboard-wizard Rick got worldwide recognition with the ‘classic-rock formula’ from EKSEPTION but he wanted his own band to work out his own ideas. He founded TRACE with bass player Jaap van Eik (CUBY AND THE BLIZZARDS, The MOTIONS, SOLUTION, LIVING BLUES) and drummer Pierre van der Linden (TEE SET, BRAINBOX, FOCUS), a real Dutch supergroup.

What can a man do with a guitar?
Being referred to as one of the best guitarist on the globe this moment had to come: the ultimate guitar solo record. To be more specific: the ultimate guitar side of a record.

Label: Capitol Records/ST-12331 | Released: 1984 | Genre: Neo-Progressive

Essential: a masterpiece of Progressive Rock music
I cannot wait anymore to review this record: This record contains maybe the best guitar solos in the history of music. It is not a question of speed here; it is rather a question of sounding near the perfection. The electric guitar solos are at their best, especially the solo on “Jigsaw”, which is, in my opinion maybe the best one in the history of music, at least near Eddie Van Halen’s eruption: I’ve never heard a more pure, loud and clean Fender Stratocaster sound than on this track.
