"A study in sentimental strata… eleven fragments of a Lovers' Discourse…" H. Zazou's 3rd chamber music album for the MTM Series features electronically-reprocessed acoustic instruments, such as trumpet, sax, clarinet, and string quartet. Geologies is an unusual Hector Zazou album in that it is strings focused, albeit electronic music somewhat short of Zazou's usual quirks from his later period. You should bear in mind that it is an earlier album and as such shows Zazou still perfecting his ultimate and unique style with sounds and electronics. Following on from Noir et Blanc, this album is entirely different in tone, many longer notes, intertwining strings melodies and occasional use of some unusual harmonies.
CD replicas of original singles and EPs from the '50s and '60s have been a hot item in collectors' circles since the latter half of the '90s, yet they remain a rather bewildering item to a wider audience. After all, for listeners who don't fetishize original packaging – the photo sleeves, the shifting logos on the label – it's hard to grasp the purpose of a set that contains 40 songs spread out over 20 discs, as they are on Elvis #1 Singles, a set that rounds up 20 of the King's chart-topping hits and serves them up as two-track CDs, complete with original B-sides and artwork.

Jean-Pierre Rampal is often considered the greatest flutist of the modern era. In addition to his exceptional talent, he raised the flute to unprecedented solo status, popularizing the flute literature, the flute recital and flute recordings. The rediscovery of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic repertoire for the flute is one of his outstanding achievements, as well as his numerous collaborations with composers; over 100 works have been written for and premiered by him. He recorded for Erato from the mid-1950s, with many discs receiving awards internationally. This is the second of four boxed sets comprising the complete Erato recordings (1954 to 1982) and the complete HMV recordings (1952-1976), gathered together for the first time. The set ranges from the masterpieces of Mozart, Handel and Bach to modern repertoire by Damase and Arma.
