Anna (Sabine Bach) meets Martin (Hanns Zischler) on the Chamisso Square. He is an architect and has been commissioned to carry out a restructuring program for this neighborhood. Anna, who lives in the neighborhood, interviews him with a video camera. Martin gives her his card. At the meeting of the tenants’ association, the topic of restructuring is discussed. Anna visits Martin in his office to attain further information. Later, they meet up in a restaurant. Martin is forty-three, Anna is twenty-four. Martin is charmed. The next time that he is unsuccessful in reaching her on the telephone, he sleeps in his car in front of her building. One night, he climbs up on the roof of the neighbor’s house in an adventurous attempt to declare his love for her. And when he sits down at the piano to sing her a love song, she forgets that she is holding a glass of wine. Anna doesn’t object when Jörg (Wolfgang Kinder), her previous boyfriend, painfully fumbles with her apartment door keys as he removes them from his key chain. In an amorous frenzy, they travel to Italy. There, on the beach, Anna tells him that she is pregnant with his child. This takes Martin by surprise. Will this foil his plans for the future? Back in Berlin, they arrive just in time for the tenants’ party held by the Chamisso Square residents. Martin feels out of place there. He discovers his own confidential information about the background of the restructuring on the information circular being distributed by the tenants’ association – and his name appears as well. Martin leaves the scene angry and disappointed and drives away. Anna runs after him, but he keeps driving. She gets in her car and follows him?
