Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music
This record must be the dream of any music lover!!
This had been the debut by German band Hoelderlin (here still spelled with an "umlaut") and actually what an amazing one it was. Actually it should be considered as one of the most stunning first works by a band ever presented whereas usually it used to be rather underestimated. I've seen it rated with 9/15 on a German Prog site for example. Some people are comparing it with the style of some country fellow bands like Emtidi, Bröselmaschine or Witthüser & Westrupp (musicians of the latter two guested here actually) which is only valid in some way with the difference that this album had been far superior to anything those bands ever released. The music they presented here was a lot different from the more classic Prog style they revealed on their later (also very good) albums.

Recognized as the first rock opera, The Who’s Tommy set a new standard for the concept album in rock. About a deaf, dumb and blind pinball master, the double album (which featured the monster hit "Pinball Wizard") shot The Who to superstardom. As well as being hugely successful, the album also established the band as one of the most ambitious and innovative groups of the 1960s and 70s. This hi-res release adds a new dimension to the rock masterpiece, making for an essential re-experience.

Originally from Virginia, Mason was another example of an American hard rock band that took its influences from the British underground and 1960s’ psychedelic scene. This heavy rock album was initially released in 1971 through a tiny homemade pressing but through the years it has gained collectiblity and originals have fetched high prices as the band’s reputation has spread among collectors. The album has been bootlegged a number of times over the past years with various covers in both CD and LP format. Mason’s music combines the keyboard work of such bands as Deep Purple and the acoustics & complexity of Jethro Tull together with strong vocals, songwriting, and excellent instrumentation.

Flamin' Groovies - Fantastic Plastic (2017)

The Flamin’ Groovies appeared on the scene almost half a century ago, their idiosyncratic blend of fuzzed-out proto-punk and tongue-in-cheek retro-rock pastiche sounding like little else in contemporary music. Their string of classic albums in the late 1960s and early ’70s inspired whole waves of stripped-down rock n’ roll to come: from power pop and punk to the revivalist garage rock of 21st-century groups. For this first new release, reuniting the classic Groovies front line of Cyril Jordan and Chris Wilson for the first time in nearly 40 years, Fantastic Plastic shows the duo and the band to have lost nary a step in the intervening decades.
